Liquid pump for automated kettle

by whittacre on Wed May 27, 2020 7:56 pm

I'm trying to develop an automated kettle that can brew & pour water from a remote command. I've got everything sorted out except for the pump which I'm having trouble finding a solution for. I was looking at this pump https://www.adafruit.com/product/1150 but it says it has an max operating temperature of 40 degrees. Is that referring to atmospheric or the temperature of the liquid? It also only has a flow rate of 100 mL/min which I'm worried will be too slow to fill a mug in a timely manner.

If anyone knows about a better option available I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks,

The manufacturer's temperature specs are not very specific about the test conditions. But I would not recommend this pump for very hot liquids.

If you search online for "coffee maker pump replacement" you should find a selection of pumps designed for high-temperature food-safe operation.
