Micro Lipo USB Charger

by kazsoft on Thu May 28, 2020 6:25 am

I bought 4 of these micro lipo usb chargers, and fried 2 boards and the battery within seconds of connecting them.

Am I using the wrong type of battery ? The positive and negative leads seem to be in reverse.

Those batteries appear to be wired in reverse. The industry has not standardized on a polarity for the JST-PH connector, so there are batteries sold with both polarities. All of our LiPo cells and chargers follow the standard established by the mobile phone industry.

It is not difficult to fix. You can use a small pointed object to press on the small metal tab on the bottom side of the connector to remove the wires and re-insert with the correct polarity. Be careful not to allow the metal tabs to touch each other while they are out of the connector shell.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I understand, but can't really solve my problem.

I have many Lipo batteries (and other lipo chargers), so it will not be practical to modify all the connectors.

No worries. I'll just use the boards for other projects and not plug in my lipo batteries directly then.

Cheers.
