Porting RPI+GPIO to x86+USB->GPIO (FT232H) possible?

by hungrycactus on Thu Jul 02, 2020 3:45 pm

Hi first time posting here. I have a project (coded in C++) currently on a Raspberry Pi using the GPIO pins for i2c and spi communication with an external device. I need to move this to an x86 device, so I assume the only way is to use USB->GPIO, like the FT232h (https://www.adafruit.com/product/2264). Would this be the only way I can do this, or are there any other way? Much appreciated!
