trinket is overheating

by TobiWan on Fri Jul 03, 2020 10:11 pm

Recently when I connected microUSB to 3.3V trinket it started to overheat suddenly and was very hot to touch, of course neither the green nor the red diode was on, later it started working again, but even later is started again to overheat. Now I can't make it work, probably its ruined. Do you think the cable is the problem?

What was at the other end of the cable? A faulty power supply could cause problems.

And what was connected to the Trinket? A short circuit or overload on that end would cause overheating also.

Cable is connected to a laptop, the trinket is connected to 2 neopixel jewels and adafruit micro lipo charger, although there is no lipo baterry in it and the power supply is from the laptop.

Laptop USB power is usually pretty well regulated. I'd check the rest of your wiring for potential short circuits.
