Wireless standalone Led control module

by Marena88 on Sat Jul 04, 2020 3:52 am

Hi all,

i’m an electronic solutions developer on free time and for Covid pandemic i’m designing a safety device and need some support to find best radio module.

I would like to build a system that turn on a LED when inside a room there are a maximum number of persons. The led is outside the room in way that if a person look at the led and see it on doesn’t enter inside.

To achieve this task I yet developed the system inside with an Arduino board and a camera. For the LED outside I need a radio module able to communicate with a radio master connected with Arduino inside the room and able to turn on the LED standalone (without any other control boards (e.g. Arduino). This is necessary because the system outside should to be able to work with a battery for some months without charging or replacing.

Radio frequency communication is preferred than WiFi to avoid connection with external infrastructures.

Have you in your portfolio a product like that I mentioned above for LED control outside?

Thankyou in advance for your precious and appreciated support.

Maybe this? https://www.adafruit.com/product/1098. You could then replace the buttons on the remote with relates to control it https://www.adafruit.com/product/1391.

Great answer, thankyou!

There are not master modules yet configured to interface with Arduino pins, in other words electrically operated?

I not understand well how to replace buttons on command as you mentioned.

Thankyou

The buttons on the remote are just mechanical switches. You could use a relay wired in parallel with the switch to effectively have an Arduino controllable button. I suggest the latching receiver and two buttons so you can control it by pushing and releasing the buttons. You want to avoid having relaying stay powered for long if you can help it.

A relay is really just a electromagnetically activated pushbutton switch. Have a look at https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-stemma-non-latching-mini-relay.
