STANDALONE? Adafruit Stereo FM Transmitter

by vahakn1 on Wed Jul 08, 2020 1:22 pm

Hello,

can the Adafruit Stereo FM Transmitter with RDS/RBDS Breakout - Si4713 be setup to be used standalone without a contoller board like arduino?

thanks

The radio module transmits on 102.3 FM by default. You'll need something that speaks I2C to select any other frequency, or any of the other features.

Hi adafruit_support_mike! If I were to use a I2C serial adapter and configure the FM transmitter module over I2C then would the module retain all the settings and RDS messages in non-volatile memory or would everything get erased after the power is removed?

The Si4713 datasheet doesn't mention any kind of nonvolatile RAM, so you'll probably have to do I2C configuration every time you power cycle it.
