Sound FX Board Random Repeat

by tronald on Fri Jul 10, 2020 7:09 pm

Hi There. I'm looking for a bit of advice.

I am building a custom backup alarm for a golf cart using the Adafruit 16mb Sound Board with 2x2W amp. I hardwired the GND to PIN 01 and loaded all my sound files as T01RAND#.

Basically, anytime the device powers on, it plays a random noise. It works great, but the sounds that play at power up don't repeat like they're supposed to. The sounds just shuffle. I thought if power remained to a pin the sound would repeat if specified as RAND?

Is there something I am missing, or have I just mistaken the behavior? I would like for one sounds to only play while it's powered.

Any advice is appreciated.

The RAND trigger plays a different track each time the pin is connected to GND.

The FX Board's firmware doesn't have any way to select a track at random and then play it over and over. For that, you'll need to use the Serial control interface and an external microcontroller like a Trinket M0:
