PAM8302A Wiring (NO SOUND)

by macklellan on Wed Jul 15, 2020 6:38 pm

So I'm working on a project that needs to output a decent amount of audio from my Arduino board. I'm not worried about where the sound is coming from right now, I'm just trying to get it louder.

I wired a .5W speaker without any amp and it seemed to work fine. When I wire up a bigger speaker with the PAM8302A 2.5W amp, barely any sound comes out. I have to put the speaker next to my ear to hear anything. Both the .5W and 5W speakers do this with the amp. I'm new to electronics and building stuff if that isn't already apparent.

Here's a link to pictures of the wiring for both setups with and without the amp.

Any help or tips are much appreciated. Thanks!

Your wiring seems to match up with this project: https://learn.adafruit.com/ray-gun-blaster/circuit-diagram.

Have you played around with the volume control on the board?

Yeah it's kinda frustrating. All the research ive done on this board and how others have used it matches what I've done so far. Volume is turned all the way up on the amp. That's the only way I can hear the speaker, anything less is inaudible.

OK, please email support@adafruit.com with a link to this thread, your order number, and request the replacement of one "Adafruit Mono 2.5W Class D Audio Amplifier - PAM8302".
