Anemometer Wind Speed Sensor

by weal on Tue Jul 21, 2020 7:42 am

I have just got "Anemometer Wind Speed Sensor"..
Can I use it directly with 5V or 3.3V ? (According to the information that the brown wire to 7-24VDC (we used 9V with success) )
https://www.adafruit.com/product/1733?g ... gJwLPD_BwE
Is there a Arduino code for this device?

Well.. you almost certainly can't power this from a microcontroller board that outputs 3.3v or 5v. If you've got another source of DC power (like a battery pack) that is in the right range, then you could use that, or if you've got a LiPo cell you could use a boost converter to jack up the voltage to 9-12V, though I don't see one of those (in that voltage range) on the adafruit site.

As for reading it, it produces 0.4-2.0V as a signal, and that's well within the range of standard analog inputs on almost any microcontroller. The actual code wouldn't be complex, and should be fairly straightforward to write.

It's going to look something like
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
  uint16_t value = analogRead(INPUT_PIN);
  float voltage = value*3.3/1024;
  float windspeed = (voltage-0.4) * 32.4/1.6;

This one is a good option:

See an example usage here in this guide:
