Lighting effects for enclosures

by Saeven on Thu Jul 23, 2020 11:31 pm

I'm in the process of designing an enclosure, and I was hopeful to create a kind of light that'd run around the circumference of the unit, or perhaps illuminate a logo. Something like the image attached for example.

Is there a tried and tested way of going about this? Would an RGB light shining through plastic do? Or is it more complex than this?

I wouldn't want to add more than $15-20 of cost per unit for something like this.

Thanks for your help!

Depending on the size of the enclosure, you could use a 'neon' LED strip

Edge-lit acrylic is another option:

Or light-pipes:
