Capacitive touch sensor Led on

by liquidd04 on Thu Jul 30, 2020 3:38 pm

Hello,

I would like to add the capacitive touch sensor to my icade "25c coin button" on the front of the unit. IN stock form the Icade has a led that makes the "button" glow red. If I add the Capacitive touch sensor, It seems I will lose the look of the glowing button.

The capacitive touch button has a led on it which turns on (red) whenever it is touched. I was wondering if it would be possible to have the led on all the time, or even if there could be another led behind the button which will remain on so that the button will keep its glow.

Thanks,

Danny

That would take a bit of work, but should be possible.

To make the backlight work, you'd have a couple of options: one would be to make the toucpad from a transparent conductive sheet like ITO-coated glass or plastic:

The other way would be to mount the capacitive sensor behind a piece of edge-lit acrylic:

and instead of a backlight you'd have an edge light.
