Would it be possible for two items to be tagged with GPS and then automatically directed towards each other until they were touching or a certain distance away? Is this GPS possible or available? Maybe this wouldn't require GPS but rather just a transmitter and receiver pair for location tracking and directing towards each other? Does Adafruit have any items capable of such precision tracking and directing?

I'm thinking like how a Roomba knows where its home base is and will direct itself back to it precisely.

Smaller the size the better for one or both of the transmitter/receiver/gps pair.

The only transmitters in GPS live in the satellites about 22,000 kilometers above the surface. All of the devices on the ground are receivers, which compare the relative timing of signals they hear from the satellites to estimate their position.

You could make a pair of devices with some other kind of data connection, have them use GPS to establish their own locations, share that information over the data connection, and orient themselves to each other. The kind of data connection you'd need would depend on the distance between the devices and the operating conditions though. For medium to long ranges, cell phone data connections would be a reasonable choice. For distances out to 200m or so, you could use LoRa or Wifi (if that's available).
