Sim Reader doesnt works!

by Tooliktman^ on Tue Sep 28, 2010 3:09 am

Hi,
i have built the sim reader kit but after installing the software the pysimreader is not able to find any COM ports. i have attached the sim reader via usb to serial cable and via FTDI cable, but i have the same problem. In the control panel i have a COM4 or COM3 assigned to the usb serial cable or ftdi.
Anyone Can help?

here are the photo of the kit assembled

What OS are you using?
Does your OS detect the FTDI or USB/Serial cable when it is plugged in?
Does the green power indicator light up when you apply power.

I'm not familiar with this kit, but these are the kinds of details that can help diagnose the problem quicker.
In the photos, the soldering and parts placement looks OK. But lighting can be deceiving, so it wouldn't hurt to give it a once-over to touch up any joint that looks dull or rough.

Thank you for your answer,
i'm using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit version, the FTDI and the usb to serial cable are detected in the right way in control panel. And the led lights up.

I assume that you have the correct Windows 7 drivers installed.

Check for any other applications that might be trying to use the COM ports. Often, machines come with pre-installed "utilities" that do nothing more than consume resources and annoy you. Sony used to have a mobile-phone utility that would continuously poll the COM ports for a connected phone.

ToolKit, posting 8 times in one day in multiple threads will not get you more help than posting once. :P We've locked this thread as we have responded in the other one.
