Adafruit Motor Shield V2 and Wemos D1 R32

Post by PaudC100 »

Hi, I have an arduino UNO working successfully with a stepper motor using an adafruit motor shield v2. I am now trying to migrate the project to a Wemos D1 R32. My stepper motor is unresponsive when connected. This page https://www.letscontrolit.com/wiki/inde ... ield_v2%22 says "To connect it to ESP8266 devices (e.g. Wemos D1 R2) you have to set it to 3.3 V, see adafruit documentation for that." I have cut the link between 5v and the logic pad, then soldered logic pad to 3v but there is still no life in the stepper?

Thanks for your reply. Managed to get it working. Took everything apart and reassembled. Resoldered 5V pad to logic pad and everything is good

Hello,
I have dound that : To connect it to ESP8266 devices (e.g. Wemos D1 R2) you have to set it to 3.3 V, see adafruit documentation for that.
Is it the solution ? how to do that ?
Can somebody help me please ?

Converting to 3.3v operation is covered in the FAQ: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-mot ... aq-2861877

The shield comes configured by default to use 5v logic signals. This is appropriate when used with 5v processors such as the Arduino UNO. The shield needs to be re-configured to use 3.3v logic when used with 3.3v processors.

Hi Bill,
Thank for your answer,
Is it possible to reconfigure motorshield V2 to use 3.3V logic ?

Near the 3v and 5v pins, there is a set of jumper pads labeled "logic" 3v 5v".

Cut the thin trace between the center pad and the 5v pad. Then use solder to bridge between the center and the 3v pad.
