LiPoly battery prep

by johnlavik on Sat May 08, 2021 10:40 am

The wires came broke off of one of my early LiPoly battery purchases. After that, I remember seeing somewhere on your website the suggestion to put a dab of glue where the wires come out of the battery as a method of strain relief. I can't find it now, but would like to implement that proactive fix. Can someone point me to that instruction?

Not sure exactly where you saw it. But there are a few simple approaches to strain-relief for LiPo cells.

Kapton Tape is my go-to solution. Just bend the wires so they run parallel to the top edge of the cell and tape them to the cell. Other types of tape work also. But the Kapton (polyamide) holds up best in my experience.

You can do the same with a dab of hot-glue or E6000 adhesive. That is a little messier and not quite as robust. But adequate for most applications.
