Rugged Panel Mount Fingerprint Sensor with Bi-Color LED Ring - R503 PID: 4651
I received the following item - Rugged Panel Mount Fingerprint Sensor with Bi-Color LED Ring - R503 PID: 4651
I hooked up my Arduino and followed all the instructions, the Serial Panel said the following:
Adafruit finger detect test
Did not find fingerprint sensor :(
After testing the Arduino, the wires for continuity and the power off the board I swapped out with another Arduino Uno with no success.
I then noticed that if I powered it off and then powered it back on the LED would not blink.
I then attached it to my power supply and set to 3, 3.5, 4.5, and 5 volts and the LED would not blink.
I believe it is damaged from the factory.
How can we resolve this?

Please post a photo showing how the fingerprint sensor is wired to the UNO.

I tried it with several Unos

Thanks. That specific sensor has a slightly different wiring. See below:
Try wiring the yellow wire (TXD) to Arduino pin 2 and the green wire (RXD) to Arduino pin 3.- THANOSZX7R

This still doesn't work with any wiring set up. It will not blink, which is a critical component of the actual device since the LED ring is one of the features. The LED will not work and therefore this is not operational as delivered.

Re: Rugged Panel Mount Fingerprint Sensor with Bi-Color LED
What sketch are you running at this point? With the following connections:
https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit-Fi ... rprint.ino
should get the following output: What are you seeing if you run the same sketch with the same wiring connections?
- Sensor RED wire to UNO 3v3
- Sensor BLACK wire to UNO GND
- Sensor YELLOW wire to UNO 2
- Sensor GREEN wire to UNO 3

should get the following output: What are you seeing if you run the same sketch with the same wiring connections?

It won't power on and the sensor is not detected. I just want one that works.

What do you mean it won't power on? How are you determining that? If you are running the sketch and it is not working, what exactly is happening? What are you seeing in the Serial Monitor if you run the same sketch with the same wiring connections?

Re: Rugged Panel Mount Fingerprint Sensor with Bi-Color LED
The ring will not flash the LED when power is applied. The sketches I have tried don't recognize the button. NOTHING, is happening. Kind of like it is not working.

The LED does *not* come on with just power. That is expected.
What exactly are you seeing in the Serial Monitor output when you run the sketch? That will help us figure out what might be going on.The sketches I have tried don't recognize the button.

I get this. Is there a way to test the sensor by hooking up the power and seeing the LED Blink?

Re: Rugged Panel Mount Fingerprint Sensor with Bi-Color LED
Hmm. Ok, so not even seeing the fingerprint sensor, which is most likely a basic connection issue. Are you connected to the Ardunio UNO like this?
- Sensor RED wire to UNO 3v3
- Sensor BLACK wire to UNO GND
- Sensor YELLOW wire to UNO 2
- Sensor GREEN wire to UNO 3

Re: Rugged Panel Mount Fingerprint Sensor with Bi-Color LED
yes, I tried putting them in as wires, but I soldered them all together. It is still not working and I can't get it to power up. Sorry for the delay in answering.

Hello? I would still like a replacement for the defective item I have.
