3W Speaker Hat with Microphone input?

Post by davidschlender »

Hi, I have a project requiring a 3W (minimum) speaker output and a microphone input (to wire a guitar pickup). Basically it's to be used as a guitar amp that will directly drive a speaker. Are there any hats for the Pi Zero that can support this functionality?

I have the 3W stereo speaker bonnet https://www.adafruit.com/product/3346, which works great, but it doesn't have a mic input of any kind.
I've also run across the Voice Bonnet https://www.adafruit.com/product/4757, but it only drives 1W output.
And there are other boards based on the WM8960 https://www.amazon.com/Encoding-Decodin ... 489&sr=8-3but their microphones are integrated as MEMS devices onto the boards.

I want to wire a microphone to the hat, and have it drive a 3W (minimum) loudspeaker. Any suggestions?

Do you specifically need the RasPi? It really isn't suited to analog signal processing. It doesn't have any built-in support for analog signals, so the signal will have to go through external analog hardware like an I2S mic and I2S speaker driver.
