Help with Blue fruit, Propmaker, and Neopixel Strip

Post by chsingleton »

So this is my first time tinkering around with circuits and I'm a bit lost as to how to connect my bluefruit, prop maker, and neopixel strip.

I've soldered pins onto the bluefruit and updated the software for it. I'm not fully sure of how to connect the wiring to power the prop maker
I also thought that the neopixel JST would fit into the prop maker but it had 2 holes and doesn't go with the 3 pins of the prop maker featherwing. I bought some JST connectors from Amazon and none of them fit the port of the JST connector that the neopixel strip is supposed to connect to.

If anyone could provide any feedback, it would be greatly appreciated.

Are you following a particular guide?

If you are using our JST-wired NeoPixel strips it will easily just plugin to the white 3-pin port on the edge of the Propmaker. It sounds like you might have an ordinary NeoPixel strip without the JST connector?

How to make your own JST connection for a NeoPixel strip:

Powering the PropMaker is normally done by soldering headers on it and your Bluefruit Feather (male on one side and female on the other) so they can be stacked. You can then use a micro-USB power into the Bluefruit Feather or a LiPo battery pack to power both boards from one source.
