Newbie - Top down design question

by art on Wed Nov 24, 2010 2:48 pm

I am starting to look at Arduino from a functional need perspective and not from the tinkering first perspective. I need something that will play selected audio files based on network commands. I am not interested in using my PC. I am looking at the Wav Shield, the Ethernet Shield, and an Arduino 2560. My question, can the 2560 use both shields at the same time or do I need two Arduinos? Thankyou for your time.

This topic comes up now and again. If you search the forums you will get quite a few hits. The answer depends somewhat on what flavor ethernet shield you choose. Here's one thread on the subject: http://forums.adafruit.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=11201&p=53468&hilit=wave+shield+ethernet#p53468
