No. To use surface mount parts, you would need to design a custom board in the shape of your Arc reactor with pads and traces and solder-mask for all the surface mount parts. Then you would need either an extremely steady hand, or some specialized equipment to assemble them:

No, a custom designed and fabricated (you can order them once you design it) circuit board that you would have to solder the surface mount LEDs onto. And if you want them dense you won't have room to use even a thin surface mount iron tip so you'd need to use solder paste, stencil, and an oven.

I'd stick with through hole ;)

ok the through hole neopixels that don't have the diffuser if i add enough of them will be just as bright as the surface mounted ones? ideally i want to go the easier route and from what you guys are saying the https://www.adafruit.com/product/1837 are the way to go i just want it to be bright. i've never seen the through hole leds in person i only ever bought a neopixel led ring

actually looking at it now the clear through hole neopixels are discontinued and i dont think the defused ones will give me what im looking for
