sourcing 16 pin ribbon like connector

by josheeg on Wed Dec 01, 2010 2:14 am

I am trying to source in mouser or digikey or both 16 pin ribbon like connectors. It would be great if it was 2.54mm or 1.27mm .1 in or .05 in
single or dual row smd would be nice if it has something to align it on the board.

I started looking then after reading a area on networking in the book make things talk it mentioned IDC connectors.
They are blade tipe that cut into a ribbon cable that is inserted into the connector and the assemblys here plug into a header that could be surface mount.

here are ones that are more generic you get the pieces and assemble them.

surface mount cable with allignment posts 2 holes so surface mount points. Would be more secure and better to hand assemble.

I was thinking of stacking dual inline headers 8x2 4 high on eatch side so the analog moduels woudl have good connections but slightly longer wires than on a PCB but it might be similar after routing and the cable could be noisy. Ribbon cable and IDC connectors.
