Autonomous Ground Vehicle Project

by Dradius on Wed Dec 01, 2010 5:52 pm

Hello,

I am starting a new AGV project and i 'd like to have some advise about the hardware i should use.
I want to build an autonomous GPS guided vehicle for outdoor use.

The main features i want are:

a. Waypoint Navigation
b. Obstacle Avoiding (and recalculating route after avoiding the obstacle)
c. OSD system for sending video to base station
d. Wireless Communication (WiFi or RF)

I was thinking about using an Arduino Mega2650 and Ardupilot Mega with ArduPilotMega IMU Shield.
Any other hardware suggestions, or you think Arduino Mega is fine for this project?

Also i need a GPS with the best possible accuracy for turning in "almost" the right place. Any suggestion from all these modules at the shop?

About the b,c and d features the hardware its an easy pick i think. Ultrasonic sensors for b, Remzibi's OSD for C (i couldn't find any other kit) and WiFi or RF module for d.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Dradius
