Re: Bought kit, screen doesn't work, requesting replacement
It could be related to the use of the ribbon cable. For the sake of troubleshooting, would it be possible to mount the TFT directly to the Pi's GPIO header?

TFT = the TFT display hat
GPIO = the Pi's 2x20 GPIO header.
I.e. mount the display board directly on the Pi rather than use the cable in order to remove the cable from the equation.

Have you tested the screen without the game controller connected? I'm wondering if there are GPIO conflicts.

"kit" .. what product did you purchase? A link or product ID would be best.

Please continue to work with us on troubleshooting. There are numerous things that could be happening other than a defective screen. We are working through those in a pragmatic troubleshooting process.Again, we believe the screen to be defective and request a refund for the kit purchased..thanks.
Removing the ribbon cable eliminated it as a source of problems. Either via a bad cable or incorrect orientation (ribbon cables can be confusing).
Similar for removing the game controller.
At this point it sounds like the TFT is directly connected to the Pi. What all have you done in terms of software installation?

After installing and booting with RetroPie, did you go through the software install for the TFT?
