I have a Halloween project that uses an inexpensive LCD projector and videos from AtmosFX. The images are pumpkin faces projected on to foam pumpkins, and they perform a 30-minute act of singing and jokes.
Perfect application for Adafruit_Video_Looper.
However, I have to SSH into the Pi 4 and reboot the Pi. Sometimes up to five times before Looper will run. Once it runs, it runs forever. Otherwise I am looking at a CLI screen. (With no keyboard attached).
Does anyone have any idea why Looper doesn't start every time?
Is there a command line to start looper that I could use over SSH instead of rebooting from an SSH terminal?
Adafruit_Video_Looper sometimes works?

@SteveMann,
To restart the looper via command line:
I know there had been some issues with Video Looper not starting up as /etc/rc.local was removed from the system default, but that should be resolved with the init scripts we are using now.
To restart the looper via command line:
Code: Select all
sudo supervisorctl restart video_looper

I have a projector on the first HDMI (Raspberry can't figure out if that's HDMI0 or HDMI1). I am on a PC and SSH into the Raspberry. When I did
Code: Select all
sudo supervisorctl stop video_looper
Code: Select all
sudo supervisorctl start video_looper
Would
Code: Select all
sudo supervisorctl restart video_looper

Re: Adafruit_Video_Looper sometimes works?
restart should be the same as running stop / start with supervisorctl.
Let's try another approach.
Why isn't video_looper starting?
You should see information about video_looper startup issues here:
/var/log/supervisor/*
