TMP117

Post by Aredyn_Nekto »

Hello! Why is there a capacitor on your board next to the TMP117 sensor? This is a precision sensor, nothing should interfere with it. A capacitor located nearby may affect the accuracy of the readings. Can I get any comments on this?

p.s. Sorry for my English, I'm writing through a translator.

This is a precision sensor, nothing should interfere with it.
Precision does not prevent interference. Other devices in your circuit (such as the processor) can generate interference on the power and ground lines. General best practice for most ICs is to have a bypass capacitor located close to the device.

The TMP117 is no exception and the board follows the manufacturer recommendations in section 10 of the datasheet:

https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tmp117.pdf
Place the power-supply bypass capacitor as close as possible to the supply and ground pins. The recommended
value of this bypass capacitor is 0.1 μF.
