USB-C Breakout Board 1.5A current okay for a keyboard?

Post by BunniPlz »

I'm planing to mod a wired keyboard I have to have a detachable usb c cable. I basically already gathered all the things but I'm having doubts about whether the breakout board I got (https://www.adafruit.com/product/4090) is safe for the keyboard, which has a sticker saying it's normally rated for 5V/250mA. The breakout board's listing says it requests 1.5A from the upstream port. Should I go ahead with this since I've already got the part or should I have gotten the other "Simple" one (https://www.adafruit.com/product/5180)?

That should be fine. The keyboard will only draw as much current as it needs.
