I ordered some 10 uF electrolytic caps and can't figure out which is the positive lead and negative lead from the exterior markings or lead lengths.

No stripe? Are they even labelled 10uF? And leads the same length?

Is the labeling consistently next to a lead?

Thanks for the reply, all the leads are the same length, only the manufacturer's logo... is there a way to use a voltmeter to determine polarity?

Additional, caps were from Adafruit.

Weird. Are you sure those are caps, and not something else? It's very odd for that style of cap not to have some sort of polarity marking, as well as some printing for the capacitance value... They could be a tilt sensor, maybe?

Easy enough to test. With the head-down there should be an open-circuit between the legs. With the head-up, there should be contact.

Or just give them a shake. You should be able to hear or feel the ball rattling around.

Yep, they're tilt sensors, they jiggle when shaken.
