Substituting Adafruit LiPO for OEM LiPO

by rickrump on Tue Jan 25, 2011 3:59 pm

I have a wireless monitor from First Alert that uses a 3.7V, 1000 mah battery that no longer holds charge. It has 3 contacts on one end, spaced .1". I know that one is probably for temperature monitoring and the others + and -.

Can I safely replace this battery and wire in the Adafruit LiPO charger and the new 1300 mah LiPO battery adafruit just released? I understand the temperature protection is inside the Adafruit LiPO. So do I need to fake out the Temperature contact with a resistor of can it be left disconnected?

Thanks,

Rick

most tempco resistors are a 10K NTC connected to ground, we suggest buying one
