Underpowering a Solenoid

by shacklebolt on Thu Jan 27, 2011 1:54 am

I have a 3.3VDC source, and a solenoid that is rated for 6V. Is it safe to run the solenoid with the source directly or do I need to do some tricky resistor stuff? (Note: I am not an electrical engineer)

Sure but it might not work. The current will be less, so it will be fine but won't have as much force.

Cool, thanks. I'll do some testing!
