Blackberry style thumbwheel/switch

Post by sircastor »

I've been searching high and low for something like this, but I haven't found what I'm looking for. I'm hoping someone here can help:

I'm looking for a rotational switch that continuously travels and can also be depressed. This is the type of switch that's on the older style blackberrys.
Anyone have any idea where to find it/what to look for?

Something like this or this, perhaps? Or are you only looking for 1D travel, like the scroll wheel on a mouse?

Yeah, I am looking for something more like a scroll wheel on a mouse. I don't want anything like the tilt-functionality that exists in some mouses, just the single plane, and a 'click' by pressing down.

In fact, now that I think about it, it may be easier to find an old mouse with a wheel and extract the part. I've never looked at the internal workings to know if it is its own component.
