NES Controller MP3 Player Mod

Post by dottore11 »

Hey guys, I'm trying to make this NES Controller MP3 Player.

http://www.instructables.com/id/ED40P82 ... /?ALLSTEPS

I would like to make it pretty much just like in those instructions, except I don't like how they used an alkaline battery just soldered in. Could I use a rechargeable one in this? I need to know whether it would recharge via the usb connection from the player. Or if I could rig something up to make it work like that.. Ideas?

soldering to a battery is...kinda bad :) you can get battery holders from radioshack or equivalent for about $1

Yeah, I know, I was planning on using one of those actually ;) I work at a radioshack :D

I still need to know whether it's possible to rig up a rechargeable battery instead though.

Alrighty then. I hope so. The only thing is that I want to charge the battery while it is still in the case - not have to take it out. And I know that without modifying the mp3 player it probably wouldn't support charging the nimh since it is made to use non-rechargeables.. There is probably a diode or something in the board preventing it from charging. Or maybe it will all just work and I'm overthinking it.
