PiGRRL 2 screen brightness

Post by Dmfx22 »

Help! I built the PiGRRL 2 all ok but the screen is too bright, I swapped it for the screen in my other PiGRRL 2 and it was fine. Same hardware just swapped screens, does that mean the screen is faulty??

Aside from the difference in brightness, does the display work?

hi, yes the display works, its just too bright - see pics. i already had a pigrrl2 so tried my new screen in that and you can see the results. after 60 secs when the screen dims it is fine. i made sure there was no continuity between the points on the pin 18 pad on the rear.

Hmm.. that could be some kind of signal or driver problem.

Let me check with the folks who worked on that hardware.

i *think* its fast signals smooshing together, did you overclock the display? you may have to back it down
basically do this
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-pit ... faq#faq-10
but *backwards* so its 25MHz?
it could also be the wires are a little too long.

Hi, I didn't over clock it and the screen is directly on the pi gpio pins. The pictures of the screens were on the same hardware, I only swapped the screens to test it. No settings were changed at all. So as the screens are identical shouldn't they work the same? I wouldn't have to change any settings ? I'm also using the PiGRRL 2 image from your project page, which is fine with the other screen!

Hi, if it were wiring then the other screen would be the same?

Thanks for your help with this, I'm in the UK, will this make a difference with the return?
