Dead RP2350 board
Hi;
I recently received order #3373482. Unfortunately, one of the two RP2350 boards seems to be dead. I tried to install the basic 'blinky' example but it would not enter bootsel mode.
I wired the 'Run' and GND together to force a hard reset but that did not work either.
The other board worked immediately.
I tried a couple of different USB cables and the working board used either one w/o a problem while this made no difference to the board I suspect is bad.
Unless you have some other ideas, I would like to return the bad board in exchange for another one.
Thanks,
Tom

Do you still have the bag it came in?

Yes, I put the board back into the bag.

What are the numbers on the bag (for tracing the manufacturing trail)?

Re: Dead RP2350 board
The bag is labeled as a Raspberry Pi Pico 2 - RP2350.
There are two sets of numbers:
P6006 (upper right corner)
and
K18163-A

As I mentioned, I have a second RP:2350 which seems to work as expected.
It has the same numbers on the bag as the one that does not work.

Re: Dead RP2350 board
Was this done because the BOOTSEL button was not working as expected?I wired the 'Run' and GND together to force a hard reset but that did not work either.
You're holding BOOTSEL while inserting the USB cable?
The other Pico works as expected in that regard? (can get the RPI-RP2 folder)
Just curious about the bootloader mode behavior at this point. Since the Pico has a ROM bootloader, should be pretty unbrickable.

Re: Dead RP2350 board
I followed the same procedure for both and only the one failed.
Yes, I had read that connecting 'Run' with GND would force a hard reset, but unfortunately not in this case.

Weird. Not sure what it could be. Let's just replace it.

Re: Dead RP2350 board
To be clear, I performed all those steps in the right order and it just doesn't work for some reason.
I can't see anything visibly wrong with it; it looks just like the other one. Don't get it.

Re: Dead RP2350 board
The RP2350 has a ROM bootloader, which makes it pretty hard to brick. There might be a minor connection issue preventing it from going into bootloader mode (can't sense the bootsel pin state?). Or it could be power related (bad vreg?). Or something else.

Make sure you test it with only the USB connected to verify it is working properly. Let us know if there is a problem.tcroswell wrote:What do you suggest?

Re: Dead RP2350 board
I've tested it again today using only the USB. It is quite unresponsive.

Did you test the replacement Carter authorized in a post above?
