Not sure if this is the right place to ask this.
I would like to not use the USB port for charging. Can I supply 5v positive to the pad marked '5v' and 5v negative to 'GND' pad next to the 'BAT' pad and use the 'GND' pad also as the negative to the battery along with the 'BAT' pad?
I would then not be using the USB for voltage/current in and wouldn't be using the output plug but would be using the breakout pads for that.

Yes. If you have a regulated 5v supply, you can power the board via the GND and 5v pins instead of via the USB connector.

Yes. The GND is common to both the input and output sides.
