Well that is good news and it is indeed specific to the firmware as we eventually deducted.

It sounds like Adafruit should add a note to the product page suggesting that the 'MHP50UI100.hex' be used for reflow protocol to work.

Do you have a link to the download area for that version of the firmware?

Mikey,

The MHP50 that AdaFruit sells already has the MHP50UIV100.hex and MHP50APPV102.hex files loaded.

The other users would only need the MHP50UIV100.hex and MHP50APPV101.hex files if they had tried to update to version 2.00 with MHP50UIV200.hex and MHP50APPV200.hex. I am hoping that there will be a version 2.01 that corrects the problem. I have a conversation going with MINIWARE Tech Support, but it is very slow because of the time zone issue.

The web site with the downloads is:

Ahh, thank you for the clarification. To summarize don't upgrade until Miniware puts out a fix for reflow.

Mikey,

Yup! This issue was confusing partly by the support distance of Miniwear. They must not have tested the code before releasing it. I will keep you posted.

Mikey,

Reply from MINIWEAR:
Thank you, we have received your feedback and will test and improve the issue in the next version of the firmware.
I think there may be another bug where changes are made to the settings using the front buttons but they are not stored. I need to check to make sure it is a bug before I report it. This is for version 1.01. It may be in version 2.00 also.

Mikey,

Baby Steps.

I have tested version 2.01 of the firmware. It now holds for 80 seconds at WeldTime. My initial issue.
I noted that the routine does not pause at RiseTime for 80 seconds as in the config.txt file or KeepTime.
I have replied to MINIWARE with my observations with pictures and descriptions of the two new issues.
2.01 will do the job, it has not been released.

The usual bugs when code is rushed to make a release date.
Should this conversation be less public?

Bruce,

Glad to hear you were able to obtain an early release and that it is holding reflow for 80s.

My boards keep getting bridges on my fine pitch components (not an MHP fault). My slow learning curve.

Mike,

As for the bridges. I only have guesses.
How do the AdaFruit PnP machines do it?
I sent a test email.

Adafruit has automated perfection for their stencils. A bit of a stretch in hardware purchasing for home DIY one off prototypes.

Hello, I came on the forum for some help with a different project and noticed some discussion regarding SMT and reflow profiling etc. I am curious if you were able to get your issue resolved? -Mike

Mike,

MICROWARE has released version 2.01 of the firmware that has fixed the issue. @mikeysklr and I have loaded the APP and UI firmware to our MHP50s. I am very satisfied. From what I have heard from Mike, I assume he is satisfied too.

Here is a link to their download page:

Mike & Mike & et.al.,

I asked MICROWARE:
Will the MHP50 work with a USB-C PD power supply rated 28V 5A?
Will it damage the MHP50?

Their answer was:
Yes, MHP50 supports PD3.1 28V 5A input, which will not damage MHP50.
You need a charger or mobile power bank that supports the PD3.1 standard protocol (not the manufacturer's proprietary protocol), a power cord that supports the PD3.1 protocol, and update MHP50 to V2.0 or above.
