Knitting machine Hacking

Re: Knitting machine Hacking
We have documented making a cable that works with the KH-930e, and we can't confirm it works with other models until folks with those models try it out! Here's the tutorial, it's a modified FTDI cable ($20 instead of the Brother $200 one)-- if you try it out let us know if it works with your kh-965!

He all,
first of all: great work on hacking the Brother KH 930e. Really good stuff.
My question: Can I also hack my KH 930? Or is the "e" version required in order to move the needles or something?
Thanks,
Jean

Re: Knitting machine Hacking
Hello,
I am attempting to hack my knitting machines. I understand basic electronics and electricity. On the internet I have discovered Adafruit, Knitic, Davi Works, OpenKnit and Arduino, but I have NO programing experience. I do not understand the Github and Arduino Programming. I have watched all the videos online I can find.
Please help me discern a next good step. I am located in Michigan with limited ability to travel.
Sincerely, Jo Ann
I have:
MacBook Pro: 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 16G RAM; Mac OS X 10.10.3 AND/OR
MacBook Pro: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7 8 G RAM; Mac OS X 10.9.5
Brother KH-930E; (2) KH-940; KH-910 (upgraded to KH-950E) all 4 with KR-850 Ribber attachments.
