Laser Harp Plans

Post by Bongo »

Can anyone direct me to plans for constructing a laser harp? I understand the basic laser/photoresistor circuitry to create a number of on/off switches, but I need help with understanding how to interface with midi to make sounds with this.

it depends upon how advanced you want to go.

I have plans for a full scanning laser harp on my site:

www.stephenhobley.com/build

But I can help you with building a static harp too.

I just set up a forum specifically about harp building here:

I made a pretty simple laser harp.

Essentially it is 5 laser pointers that hit phototransistors wired to an Arduino Uno. The Arduino reports any changes to a Max Patch which plays a midi note or an audio sample. I can dig up some of my old notes if you would like.
