Hi all,
Bought a Xoxshop.de kit from a private seller on ebay, was sold to me as part built but "everything was there best of my knowledge". On closer inspection several IC's were missing and replaced with lookalikes to pass a once over glance.
Have now got all of the missing ones apart from the 25LC33 eeprom, They appear to be as rare as unicorn turds so does any of you knowledgeable folks know a direct replacement/ equivalent or know where to get one?

Re: 25LC33 eeprom substitute
check the BOM (the links might be old but it still gives you an idea)
you basically need an 8-leg EEPROM which works over SPI, at 5V and at least 2MHz
it has to be at least 4 kilobytes (32 kilobits)
a bigger (in size) and faster one should also work

Cheers,
Have looked at the BOM, that suggested eeprom is available from RS in the UK but I have to buy 10 of them, mouser will sell me 1 for less than 1$ but the postage is $20 but both are better than digikey, they will only sell me a complete batch of 1400 eeproms, apparently they dont have shelf space and have to order in especially.

Often x0xb0x kit suppliers can help with the odd part here n there. It can't hurt to ask.
Ironically perhaps, you could try x0xshop.de

Re: 25LC33 eeprom substitute
Next problem, having some difiiculty getting the thing to actually work, I suspect there were some issues with dodgy construcion not to mention
Parts being missing and substituted. Cant figure out what the problem is as I'm not electronics minded so is there anyone UK based who can fault find/ rectify and get the damned thing to work.
Happy to negotiate a fee should anyone feel up to sorting it.

Im based in Germany; otherwise I probably would fit your requirements. So far I have worked on/serviced over 100 xoxboxes.
I can do this for a flat fee + shipping. Interested?
