I'm working on a project (the Reagent Robot) that includes several different motors, actuators, etc... and now I'm adding in the servos. I'd like to avoid having to build another power supply just to feed 6 volts to the servo, and I'm wondering what the max safe voltage is for this specific Servo:
https://www.adafruit.com/products/1450
the product page only mentions 6volts, but doesn't say what the range is. I know there ARE RC servos that will run at 12 volts.
Also, if I must, can I get away with running the servo from an LM317 with resistors to bring it to 6 volts? Setting the resistors to 240 and 910 ohms will get me almost exactly 6 volts. But how much current does the servo need? I would be stepping down from my basic 12 volt supply. I know that the LM317 can source up to 1.5 amps, but honestly, it's going to get pretty darn hot doing that and throwing half the volts away. Dropping 6 volts at 1.5 amps means radiating 9 watts.
SO... two questions:
1. What's the max voltage I can safely apply to the Datan S1213?
2. How much current can it draw (max) at 6 volts?
Thanks for your help!

6 volts max is the stated. If you apply more you will over time destroy the servo.1. What's the max voltage I can safely apply to the Datan S1213?
We have not tested that and the specs do not say.2. How much current can it draw (max) at 6 volts?

I have been looking for S1213 dimension details, but did not found any intelligence about holes positionnings. Where could I find it?
