6vdc Lantern Battery - MintyBoost
What if any modifications would need to be preformed if I wanted to utilize a 6vdc Lantern Battery as the power supply for Minty Boost? I am looking to build a unit that I could use in an emergency event, and one that may be able to recharge an Iphone multiple times

The maximum input for the MintyBoost is 5v. Since 6v is higher than 5v, what you need is a 'buck' converter, not a 'boost' converter. We have the UBEC, which can take v or more and convert it to 5v: https://www.adafruit.com/products/1385
And there is also the 'Verter' which can do both buck and boost conversion. This gives you the most flexibility in power-supplies.

if I understand the desc, it appears that the "verter" power supply is all I need (besides the USB connector) for a 6vdc lantern battery / iphone charger .. I can use the Mintybost in its original config as a separate unit, correct?

That is correct. You can plug your phone (or other USB device) directly into the Verter.
