I have connected the small reduction stepper motor 5V (32-step 1/16) to the TB6612 board.
Purple and blue wire -> motorA
Yellow and orange wire -> motorB
Red wire -> ground
On the other side of the TB6612 to Arduino Uno:
Vcc -> 5V
Ground -> ground
AIN1,AIN2,BIN1,BIN2 -> digital 8,9,10,11
External 9V battery -> 5-13VDC (?)
When connecting the Arduino, green light on the Arduino, on the TB6612 no lights (looks dead).....
when running a Stepper sample code in IDE , uploading succeeds, but nothing happens with the stepper motor......
What am I doing wrong?

Re: TB6612 and Arduino
Remove the red wire from the ground. It is not required and will make the motor run hot.
Please post photos of you soldering and wiring to the board.

Re: TB6612 and Arduino
Hi, yes I removed the red wire, still nothing happens.
See picture, please.
Thanks for your quick response.

Re: TB6612 and Arduino
How are the battery leads attached to the board? Are they soldered?

Re: TB6612 and Arduino
What voltage do you measure between the VM and GND pins?

Re: TB6612 and Arduino
When attaching the 9V battery to '5-13vdc' input I get a voltage VM-Ground of 9.55V.(fresh full battery)
When disconnecting the battery I get 0 Volts.
When disconnecting the battery I get 0 Volts.

Re: TB6612 and Arduino
Hi,
It is now sleeping time here in the Netherlands.
Tomorrow I want to try another (the same motor), another TB6612 and other wires, supposing the TB6612 may be damaged?
Are the connections right as on the picture?
Do I have to connect VCC to 5V Arduino?
Is it normal that connecting power no led will light up on the TB6612?
Can you give a scheme if I am wrong? That would help much…
Is the stepper library from Arduino the only one I need? Can I use the IDE stepper examples?
I hope I may contact you tomorrow, thank you so far.
Mike

Re: TB6612 and Arduino
If that is one of our geared steppers, the motor wiring is wrong. Orange and pink should go to one channel. Blue and yellow to the other.

Re: TB6612 and Arduino
Ok I set up another motor and changed the wires as you advised.
I connected a potmeter and run the Arduino IDE - MotorKnob example.... nothing.....

Re: TB6612 and Arduino
Do you get any noise or vibration from the motor at all?

Re: TB6612 and Arduino
No not at all.
I'll try another TB6612 board and also consider to use the Adafruit motorshield v2.3 where I can use two stepper motors.
I'll let you know.

Re: TB6612 and Arduino
Hi,
It is ok with the Adafruit motor shield v2.3
The stepper motor moves but torque is very low.
I have added an external power supply(9V) , but still low torque.
This is BANNED.
From now on I'll concentrate on servo motors because of much more torque.
I'll set aside the problem with the TB6612 that may be unsolved.
Thank you anyway for your help and quick responses.
