life expectancy of sensors

Post by Danielversetech »

Hello,

I've been looking on the website and I am interested in purchasing two different models of sensors, AM2315 and SHT10, both sensors are used to monitor temperature and relative humidity. My question is about the life expectancy of both sensors, in regular conditions, how much would they last?

Temperature sensors generally have a very long life expectancy. Humidity sensors - not so much. The sensing elements for humidity sensors are subject to aging and contamination. The manufacturer's spec do not list a life expectancy. In good conditions, 10 years is probably a reasonable estimate. (I have an SHT-11 that is still looking good after about 8 years) If regularly subjected to humidity extremes, chemical vapors, smoke and/or airborne particulates, readings may drift and the sensor lifetime will typically be shorter.
