P2MP vs DigiMesh

Post by magnethead »

Trying to make a choice between DigiMesh ( XBP9B-DMST-002 ) and Point2MultiPoint ( XBP9B-DPST-001 ).

I will be sending commands from an arduino (controller) to RasPi (robot). Only the 2 nodes.

Which option would be better for such application?

Is the better question, when would P2MP (non-redundant) be superior/chosen over DigiMesh (redundancy)?

If you only have 2 nodes, then the mesh capability does not buy you anything. You would need additional nodes to take advantage of any redundancy capabilities.

I would guess that the mesh protocol probably has somewhat more overhead than point-to-point. The folks over at the Digi forums can probably give you a more precise characterization of any performance benefits of one vs the other in your configuration.
