I got them from adafruit as an option, along with the detent tuning knob. I really like them as they are not very bright, my pet hate is overly bright LEDs, I was worried they might be too bright but they are really nice and muted.Beta wrote:Nice!!! Where did you get the LED's?

They must be diffused, but I can't quite tell from the picture. Do you have part numbers?Fiercefish wrote:I really like them as they are not very bright,

Lovely b0x Fiercefish !
here's mine (sorry for the blurry picture)
and a quick demo: http://www.7161.com/streamer.cfm?dt_track_id=19390
Let me know what you think of it soundwise, especially people who own a 303, do you think it's reasonably close ?
Thanks,
jf

In your soundclip did you have full resonance at any point? My only real observation was that the resonance did not seem as high, the squarewave sounded nice though. If you wanted it to sound more like a 303's resonance then perhaps a slight boost, I'd suggest using a 10k trimmer in place of R97 and adjust to taste, as mentioned elsewhere in the forum.
But anyway I thought it sounded great!

Yes they are definately diffused, the tops of them look cloudy, I don't know the part numbers but perhaps adafruit can tell you.

Yup, I set the pot to full reso on both waveforms and your observation is very helpful, as I have plenty of leeway on TM3Fiercefish wrote: In your soundclip did you have full resonance at any point? thanks for your comment.
edit:turns out I didn't have THAT much leeway, bu it's plenty to my taste, so all is good.

tm3 doesn't give you more resonance, it just sets the center cutoff frequency

mmm, more experimenting then, thanks for setting me straight on that. It sure gave me the impression I was getting more resonance, but then, thinking about it, it makes alot of sense.

Re: Completed x0xb0x's (Post your pictures and sounds here!!)
This is the prototype custom case for the x0xi0 kits.
This is how the final parts will look with with two exceptions.
1) rear panel silkscreen is not completed yet
2) front and rear panel are fully anodized on final parts (edges are bare on this one)
This case only fits the custom x0xb0x PCB kit, as I changed the aspect ratio a lot by taking a lot of space off the top & bottom.
If you are building a kit with custom PCB's and want one just get in touch as I will be doing a small run in the near future.
[on a side note, the custom PCB kit only works with x0xi0 kits, and not stock x0xb0x, as some stock components are omitted from the layout]
