PCB mount snap fasteners

Post by biomurph »

Hey,
I'm looking around for a fabric snap fastener that I can solder to a PCB.
I have seen some that are through-hole female snap fasteners, but I cannot find them available anywhere.
for my purpose, I would prefer an SMT snap fastener. One that is the male side of the fabric snap.

Anyone seen anything like this?

Joel?
There are this electrode snap fasteners
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/4001037851718.html
that fit to this
https://www.amazon.com/PRYM-Brass-Snap- ... B005EKJ2S2
The latter you can also solder to a pcb. Note that the female parts have a stronger spring that may be a problem fitting to very soft finger electrodes (dry)

Yes!
Who do I have the pleasure of being named by?

Those male side snaps look good in your second link.
That would surface mount on one side of a PCB.
Then I can snap an EDA electrode to it.

I remeber your catchy nick from OpenBCI.
I use the ganglion in horses.
Additionally our post sound like an electrode contact topic for me. Then I counted 1+1.......

Actually I am evaluating contact impedance for a new project. So it was easy to retrieve those links

Oh, I left OpenBCI in 2018. But I made all the hardware.
What are you measuring on horses with the Ganglion?

I'm playing with a design for a wearable with EDA sensors.
Emotibit has nice snaps, but they solder through the board and take up a ton of boardspace...

I know.
We do EEG in horses. It is about sleep disorder diagnosis, pain assessment, anaesthesia depth monitoring etc.
I also designed a 10DOF sensor with feather interface
