Hello,
We recently purchased 15 Adafruit 2.4" TFT LCD units with Touchscreen Breakout w/MicroSD Socket - ILI9341 (Product ID 2478) [purchased from Mouser]. Unfortunately, all of them (and 5 more) have a problem with the LCD (similar to the display as shown in the attachment). The backlight is not uniform across the screen. Some units have strange patterns, while others have a gradient from bright to dark.
The setup uses a Beaglebone to power the unit and serial communication (we attached the header on the parallel comms side first but realized our error and got new headers for the serial comms side). We also shorted IM1, IM2, and IM3.
I don't know if we are doing something which is damaging the display or if this is a manufacturing issue. Any help/suggestions to fix this issue will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Gaurav

I see another user had a related experience with a BBB and this display. The options appear to be to use the user space SPI TFT library or to customize the init sequence. This thread does supply the details.

hiya, not sure we can see what you mean by backlight issue? can you display just white or something on the display. also make sure that the Vin supply to the TFT is 5V and a good current source. you need ~100mA!
