Arduino IDE 2.0 and Debugging Adafruit SAMD boards

Post by tomtom2 »

Hello,
i have a working setup for Debugging some Arduino SAMD boards with J-Link and IDE 2. But if i choose an Adafruit board the debug funktion is greyed out. Even when they use the same SAMD21 chip. In the board packages of Adafruit the debug scripts are there similar to the ones in Arduino packages but the IDE 2 debug function doesn't work for this. Compiling is not a problem. Is this a bug or do they not want to support other vendors ?

I'd say it's more a case of rolling out new features than locking anyone else out. The 2.0 IDE is still new, and it's easier to find and fix issues in the main branch than to get general adoption and then try to change things. I don't know if they've even published information on adding debug support to third party board support packages yet.
