QT Py RP2040 Serial Port

Post by RMLPilot »

I just received a QT Py RP2040 and when I use a USB cable to connect it to my Windows 11 computer it does not enumerate a COM port. I have used the USB cable on a KB2040 and it works fine. Are there any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem?

Hi, is it not recognized at all ?
What is installed on the QT PY ?
Does it show up in bootloader mode ?
You might need to put it into bootloader mode and program it before you see a serial port.

My computer never enumerates the serial port (looking at Device Manager). It is a brand new QT PY so I haven't installed anything. I was able to get the drive to show up in bootloader mode and two files show up; INDEX.HTM and INFO_UF2.TXT.

So with the bootloader up you can use Arduino to install a program, or drop the Circuitpython UF2 onto the BOOT drive, and it should work. https://circuitpython.org/board/adafruit_qtpy_rp2040/

The learn guide goes more in depth into how to setup the board for Arduino or CP: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-qt-py-2040
