32x16 LED and Arduino Mega
I'm working on the electronics for a skee ball game. I'm using an Arduino Mega 2560 for the IO. I'm using your IR break beam sensors and would like to use a 32x16 LED panel - product id 420, for the display. Reading through your connection guide, you recommend a Mega Proto shield, but they are out of stock. What's my best option for wiring one to a Mega? Thanks.

You could use a matrix shield https://www.adafruit.com/product/2601 with jumpers run to the required Mega pins as details at https://learn.adafruit.com/32x16-32x32- ... mper-wires. This would be pretty much the same as building your own shield but with "external" wires. The shield has the ability for you to disconnect the matrix connector pins from the UNO pins and connect them to something else (i.e. jumpers to Mega pins).

Re: 32x16 LED and Arduino Mega
Hi Dave, I've received the led matrix and rgb shield and now that I have them and ready to solder and connect, I wanted to run the process by you as a sanity check if you don't mind. I've attached a pic for reference - but I'd:
1. Solder 16 pin header to rgb shield - pay attention to notch orientation.
2. Solder 8 header pins to each side of 16 pin header for connecting mega - circled red in pic
3. Connect the shield to the input on the matrix with the supplied cable
4. Connect / jumper mega to shield pins soldered in step 2.
5. Power matrix and start playing
Will that work? Thanks for the help!

I've not done this, but if you follow the guide exactly, I expect it will work.
