Hi,
I just tried to install my LiIon backpack onto my pro trinket, and when I plugged in my usb power, everything on the pro-trinket worked fine, but when I plugged in my battery to charge it, the charging light came on, but then the black chip on the center of the backpack board began to smoke. I unplugged everything, and fortunately, the trinket is fine, but the backpack is burned. Could this be a defective board?

Re: Adafruit LiIon/LiPoly Backpack Add-On defective?
The JST connector on that battery is wired with the wrong polarity for the backpack.
All Adafruit boards and batteries are designed to use the same polarity. Along with Adafruit, Sparkfun, Seeed, DFRobot and most other makers of DIY electronics boards follow the same wiring conventions. However, there are batteries out there that are wired in reverse.

For use with Adafruit LiPoly/LiIon batteries only! Other batteries may have different voltage, chemistry, polarity or pinout.
